What Do Customers Look For in a Service Company?

In an ideal universe, a plumber would appear at your front door five minutes after you realized there was a problem, fix it for free, and disappear again for another five years until something broke again.  Of course, that’s not reality.  More realistically, you want to be able to find a plumber easily, pick up the phone and call, and get a live person, not a recording.  You want the plumber to arrive in a reasonable amount of time not wasting your whole day, make the right diagnosis, have the right parts on his truck, and fix your problem correctly the first time.  And when problems do occur (and sometimes they just do), you expect to be able to pick up the phone again and handle it easily.

It’s disappointing to say, but less than 20% of the home repair companies in business today have any ongoing training.  And then there is lack of common sense.  Even though you have taken your time to explain the problem to the person on the phone, the repairman most often shows up without the parts they need.
